about

Debut studio single, a re-recording of a track originally on Cash for Gold

lyrics

We've lived our lives in the shadows, we've clung to the tendrils of fame. We pass through immutable time tracing arcs through false idols' lives. We like to pretend we're the same. We spend our nights in bars trapped in the dark. We cover our eyes with our own hands at indirect commands. The world is harsh and cold, or so we've been told, but we still party hard.

What are we escaping from, bathed in the light of the TV? Chemicals loosen our tongues wound tight by messaging.

The view from your highway exit looks so much like the one from mine. This land partitioned by our fathers was wiped and flattened by time. The radio and the television will never know us by name but there's more to life than commerce, there's more to success than fame.

Late night floating through the disco city, white city lights reflected off wet city streets, nighttime neon streaming past. I can make out my neighbor's television sets through their windows directing stop and go.
